Naval Base Coronado

Naval Base Coronado's mission is to arm, repair, provision, service and support the U.S. Pacific Fleet and other operating forces. NBC is a consortium of eight installations employing more than 27,000 military and civilian personnel and encompassing more than 57,000 acres.

MCAS Miramar

Built on what was once part of a Mexican commandante's ranchero, MCAS Miramar was used by both the Navy and Marine Corps for advanced pilot training during World War II. After the war the Navy occupied the base for over 50 years, and Miramar grew into "Fightertown USA," home to F-14 squadrons and "Topgun."

Now MCAS Miramar is home to the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, which is the aviation element of the 1st Marine Expeditionary Force. Today more than 12,200 Marines, Sailors and civilians called Miramar home. Welcome abroad!

Camp Pendleton

Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton is home to the I Marine Expeditionary Force and serves as the USMC's prime amphibious training base on the west coast. It is bordered by Oceanside to the south, San Clemente, Cleveland National Forest, Orange and Riverside counties to the north, and Fallbrook to the east.

Amphibious and sea-to-shore training takes place at several key points along the base's 17 miles of coastline. The main base is in the Mainside Complex, at the southeastern end of the base, and the remote northern interior is an impact area.

Marine Corps Recruiting Depot San Diego

Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego's main mission is the initial training of USMC enlisted male recruits living west of the Mississippi River. Over 21,000 recruits are trained at MCRD each year. The Depot is also home to the Marine Corps' Recruiter School and Western Recruiting Region's Drill Instructors School. The U.S. Coast Guard also has a presence on board MCRD with that service's Pacific Area Tactical Law Enforcement Team and the Maritime Safety and Security Team.

Naval Air Station North Island

Naval Air Station North Island is the official birthplace of Naval Aviation because the Navy's first aviator, Lieutenant Theodore Ellyson, and many of his colleagues were trained here.

NAS North Island is located at the north end of the Coronado peninsula and is the homeport of two aircraft carriers along with 23 fixed- and rotary-wing squadrons. The air station also hosts 80 tenant commands and activities, including the U.S. Naval Air Forces and the Naval Aviation Depot, which is the largest aerospace employer in San Diego. Naval Amphibious Base Coronado

Naval Amphibious Base Coronado is home of the U.S. Navy's special and expeditionary warfare training and the West Coast base of operations for SEAL teams and Special Boat Units.

NABC supports over 30 tenant commands, including Amphibious Construction Battalion One, Naval Special Warfare Group One, and Tactical Air Control Group One. The on base population is 5,000 military personnel and 7,000 students and reservists.

Naval Base Point Loma

Point Loma has a rich military history due to its natural tactical significance as the only peninsula in the area that guards the surrounding waters. The base was re-designated Naval Base Point Loma in October of 1998, and the six tenant installations were consolidated when commands throughout San Diego were regionalized at that time to better serve the fleet.

Current major commands onboard include Commander Third Fleet, Naval Mine and Anti Submarine Warfare Command, Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command, and Submarine Squadron Eleven. Welcome aboard Naval Base Point Loma!

Naval Base San Diego

In 1922 then-acting secretary of the Navy Teddy Roosevelt issued General Order 78, which transformed the waterfront into U.S. Destroyer Base San Diego. Today Naval Base San Diego is the U.S. Navy's largest base on the west coast and the principal homeport of the Pacific Fleet.

Naval Base San Diego is homeport to 54 ships and hosts 120 tenant commands. The base has 13 piers that stretch over 977 acres of land and 326 acres of water. The total on-base population is 20,000 military personnel and 6,000 civilians.

US Coast Guard Station San Diego

US Coast Guard Station San Diego conducts Maritime Law Enforcement, enforcing Federal Law from the U.S. border with Mexico to as far north as San Mateo Pt.

The Station stands by 24/7 for Search and Rescue, mostly recreation boaters in distress and cruise medevacs. Also, ensuring Homeland Security, the Station escorts each cruise ship and some Navy assets entering and leaving San Diego Bay.
